Given the unprecedented impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, since early 2020 the partners have been focusing on developing methods to assess the ongoing COVID-19 spread. These algorithms include (i) frameworks to compute the importation risk accounting for the role of mobility in driving spatial spread at different scales (from international to sub-national levels) in the early phase of the pandemic and following the emergence of SARS-CoV-2 variants of concern, and (ii) models to evaluate the efficacy of non-pharmaceutical interventions, integrating multiple sources of data, e.g. mobility, social contacts and genomic data.
